The Junior Monumental Milers Program (JuMMP) kicked off its third year on September 18, 2009 at D.C.’s Turkey Thicket Recreation Center. JuMMP is an easy activation program to promote physical fitness and goal setting. This 23-week run/walk program challenges youth ages 8 to 13, to get off the couch and into their sneakers and run or walk 26.2 miles by Sun Trust National Marathon and CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield Race Day on March 20, 2010. JuMMP’s dynamic and integral partners are D.C. Parks and Recreation, YMCA, Fit Arlington, Enterprise Rent-A-Car and new to this year’s program, BET Foundation.

| Teens RUNDC 2010 (TRDC) challenges high school-age students to experience the benefits of goal-setting, character development, mentoring and improved physical health by training for and completing the SunTrust National Marathon/CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield Half Marathon in Washington, D.C. on March 20, 2010.

The second annual Stars and Strikes D.C. Youth Baseball Showcase featured boys teams ages 8-12 from Virginia, Maryland and D.C. Teams competed over three days for a chance to play in the event’s championship highlighted with free food and fireworks.

Washington Mystics Youth Summer League (MYSL) completed
its second season this summer in D.C. In partnership with GWSA and D.C.
Parks and Recreation, the Washington Mystics conducted
a successful eight-week summer league for approximately 350 girls culminating with the League Championships at the Verizon center in August 2009.
Teams were formed at various DC Parks and Recreation centers throughout the city.
