Going into it's 6th year, the SunTrust National Marathon and CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield National Half Marathon anticipates welcoming a capacity field to hit the streets of the District of Columbia for a 26.2 mile highlight of 6 of the city’s 8 wards on March 26, 2011. In addition to exciting corporate involvement, the SunTrust National Marathon and CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield National Half Marathon is proud to provide new community programming to District residents, further connecting the race to its city.

Tewaaraton: (Washington D.C.)
The University Club of Washington, DC, formally established the Tewaaraton Award on August 29, 2000. Today the Tewaaraton Award is recognized as the pre-eminent lacrosse award honoring the top female and male varsity collegiate lacrosse player in the United States. Simply, It is the lacrosse equivalent of the Heisman Trophy. With the inaugural presentation taking place at the University Club of Washington DC in June 2001, the Tewaaraton Award is now presented annually following the collegiate season at a banquet honoring the finalist and winners. The Tewaaraton Award has received the endorsement of the Mohawk Nation Council of Elders.
